How Much Can One Leaf Carry
How much can one small leaf carry. How much. How much can it hold. It turns out, a small lead can hold a lot.
The snow falls and layers. It piles. The leaf goes on. Holding. Carrying. Staying put. This is good. This is good news.
If a horse can learn to stand calmly, to choose curiosity over bolting, maybe the human animal can too. If a dog and a cat and a chicken can defy the food chain and relax in close quarters, perhaps humans can actually get along.
If a small and brittle leaf can survive the dry winds of fall and the deep and dark freeze of winter, then hold its integrity and become a resting place for heaps of snow, maybe we can just carry the hard things and continue on.
Maybe just maybe we are stronger than we think. We can carry.
